Improved Internet experience planned for Lakelse Lake

Better Internet Connectivity is on the way
for those in the Lakelse Area

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city will soon come with some of the benefits of what you have left at home, with Lakelse Lake area one of the next areas of British Columbia set to benefit from improved Internet connectivity.

As part of their ongoing efforts to upgrade wireless connections across the province, The British Columbia Government has added to its Connecting British Columbia program, with Lakelse Lake among twelve rural communities to benefit from funding announced on Monday.

As part of the latest push for better connectivity, ABC communications Ltd. will receive $298,406 from the program for upgrades in the twelve communities. The total cost of the project is estimated to be close to 600,000 dollars when all is complete.

“The ability to access high-speed internet allows communities – especially those in rural and remote areas of B.C. – to have the same social, educational and economic opportunities as those in urban centres. The Connecting British Columbia program closes the digital divide between our citizens and the rest of the world, and for these more remote communities, it creates the lifeline they need in order to thrive.” -- Jinny Sims, Minister of Citizens’ Services

The Lakelese Lake work is likely to be of significant benefit to those residents of the region who make the Lake their year round homes, though additional Internet access will no doubt be welcomed by those who make the Lakelse area their summer or weekend destinations as well.
