A work in progress at Prince Rupert's Argosy on Third West

The early strokes of the next big mural project have been applied to the eastern wall of Prince Rupert's Argosy Store on Third Avenue West, with Transition Prince Rupert's Paint the Town initiative now officially underway.

Painters took their positions this week to launch the project, which also has included a workshop led by Nomadic Alternatives and Derek Edenshaw from the Vancouver Mural Festival, more background on the project can be found from out notes of May 17th.

And while the Argosy project begins to take shape, Transition Prince Rupert has announced two new mural initiatives, with the civic action group having selected the wall of the Nisga'a Hall on Third West and that of Lax Kw'alaams Business Development Office as the next locations for some urban artwork.

Transition Prince Rupert notes that they are seeking artist proposals from registered or affiliated Nisga'a Members for the Nisga'a Hall project.

Those wishing to take part in the in the Lax Kw'alaams mural should be Lax Kw'alaams community members or artists who have Lax Kw'alaams heritage.

The two murals are to be completed by October of this year.
