Emergency repairs required for water service along 6th Avenue East

A good section of Sixth Avenue East from McBride to William Booth Way
has had their water shut off this afternoon

Update: In a follow up message, the City of Prince Rupert advised that the water service would be restored to the affected area by 5PM

Original Story

City Work crews are woking to restore water service to an area of the east side this afternoon, with the City issuing an Emergency Water Shut off for a portion of Sixth Avenue East today.

The Notice from the city was posted to their mobile app, city website and Facebook page at mid afternoon, identifying a section from McBride and William Booth Way as affected by the water shut off.

No timeline for repairs was indicated as part of the advisory other than to state that service would return as soon as possible.

The City is currently working on a large scale infrastructure project on McBride at the intersection of Sixth Avenue East, with traffic reduced to two lanes on the main thoroughfare and roads closed in the immediate area.
