A major fire downtown brought out a large number of the curious this week as Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue tackled a blaze along a string of houses at the western edges of Third Avenue West, making the story our most read of the top five of the week.
The remainder of the list this week has a strong City Council focus with the range of Financial information reports making for a good portion of the interest, along with the announcement of the city's recent appointments to the Prince Rupert Airport Board and an update on the city's work towards developing a retail cannabis sector in the community.
Basketball and the support for the Toronto Raptors from across the nation had a Prince Rupert feel to it this week, with two viewing parties taking place at the City's Civic Centre, the twin events hosted b the City of Prince Rupert Recreation Department.
However, it was a downtown fire that put more than two thirds of the city's fire department to work that captured the most attention on the week.

Let's Go Raptors! City Recreation Department to host Raptors Viewing party tonight -- The city's hoops fans took advantage of the Big Screen presentation offered up by the City of Prince Rupert to cheer on the Toronto Raptors. With fans taking in the game from the Civic Centre Arena on Monday evening. Many of them returned on Thursday, joined by others to watch as the Raptors finally put away the Golden State Warriors to win the NBA title. (posted June 10 , 2019)
