The City of Prince Rupert is looking to move ahead on some renovations to the mechanical elements of the Lester Centre |
Some changes are coming to the city's main entertainment theatre, as the Lester Centre prepares to renovate its interior systems to modernize the plumbing, air conditioning and other elements of the facility's operations that most of us never give much thought about.
The City posted their request for proposals to the BC Bid website on Friday, seeking proposals from qualified proponents for repair and upgrade to the HVAC system, with replacement of controls, upgrade of the air handling unit and installation of a sump pump and other pluming among the various jobs to make for the full project.
The timeline for the work has a closing date of July 10th for the tender process, with an awarding of the contract on July 15th
The work itself would take place over the summer, with the completion date set for September 15th.
The city is hosting an information meeting for proponents related to the Lester Centre project, the meeting is mandatory for those intending to submit a bid on the work the interested proponents are to meet at the Lester Centre on June 17th at 2PM.
Hans Seidemann, the city's Manager of Community Development is watching over the project on behalf of the city and is where the request for proposals are to be directed.

Council approved the renovation plan back in January, seeking out grant funding for the work through the Recreation and Culture Energy Efficiency and Risk Management Upgrade project.
Other elements of the 430,000 dollars in funding that the city were chasing down were to be directed towards work at both the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre and the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
