The Lester Centre AGM takes place this Sunday from 2-3 PM |
An opportunity to become involved with the city's arts community is coming up on Sunday, as the Lester Centre of the Arts hosts its Annual General Meeting, taking place in the lobby of the Lester Centre from 2 to 3 PM.
The AGM will offer up a review of the past year and a preview of some of the plan ahead for the Wantage Road facility, one of which is some extensive renovation work to the Lester Centre plumbing, heating and air infrastructure.
New members are always welcome and whether new or a long time member, you can purchase or renew you membership as part of Sunday's meeting. Voting for new officers is also part of the Sunday agenda.
The Lester Centre is run by a non-profit group, with Michael Gurney the Centre's General Manager and Director of day to day operations tasked with ensuring that the facility is ready to be the showcase of the Arts that has been its domain for years.
Mr. Gurney took on the position in June of last year, taking over from the long time GM Crystal Lorette. At last count the Lester Centre has featured over 120 performances per year and hosts 420 bookings per season. Some background on its operations can be reviewed here.
You can learn more about the Lester Centre, its Board and the events which fill the dates on the calendar from the Lester Centre website and Facebook page.
