Blog Watching: Week ending June 23, 2019



The most significant industry in the region and one of the largest employers in the Northwest hosted it's Annual Public Meeting this week, with the Prince Rupert Port Authority inviting the public to the Crest on Monday to hear a range of reports and presentations on last years success and the plans for the future.

Regional District officials received the latest financial notes from staff, as they reviewed the 2018 Statement of Financial Information for the year just ended, providing a glimpse into compensation and benefits for the RD directors and senior staff.

A plan originally laid out for the public a few years ago is back on the to do list, as the City of Prince Rupert launches its Request for Proposal process for one of the old fuel tanks in Moresby Park.

The week ended with a celebration in the park, with Rotary Waterfront Park the host venue for the Prince Rupert Aboriginal People's Day event.

The week began with our review of Prince Rupert Real Estate, with this weeks notes featured an eye popping listing on Graham that takes the city's housing scene above the one million dollar mark.

However, the top item of the week goes to the Port of Prince Rupert, with much interest found in our notes on the Annual Public Meeting and the Port's latest update.

Building a Better Canada through trade, Building better communities: Port of Prince Rupert's APM highlights year of achievement, promise of future --  A review of the latest port developments was the focus for a public meeting on Monday, as Port President and CEO Shaun Stevenson and other officials from the Port outlined last years results and some of the plans for short and long term for the region's main industrial engine    (posted June 18, 2019)

Prince Rupert celebration of the 21st Annual National Indigenous Day set for Waterfront on Friday -- Rotary Waterfront Park was the destination this week for local residents and visitors alike as the Prince Rupert celebration took place from Noon to 8PM, the event finding growing crowds as the day move forward.     (posted  June 18 , 2019)

West Side property listing takes Prince Rupert real estate to million dollar plus level -- A new listing on Graham Avenue has launched Prince Rupert into the million dollar home category, with the new property doubling the top ask from the week before   (posted  June 17 , 2019)
