Prince Rupert Fire Rescue gains donation of equipment for use on pets/small animals at fire scenes

The Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department has some new equipment to use towards the needs of pets at fire scenes, with the Pacific Coast Veterinary Hospital donating towards the purchase of three re-usable masks for us on small animals.

The purchase and how the material will be used was outlined through a post on the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Facebook page which notes how the new equipment will equip fire fighters with the ability to administer oxygen to animals that are in respiratory distress after inhaling toxic smoke during a fire.

Prior to the donation, Fire responders used the regular human sized masks, which did not provide for a proper seal for the pets.
