Five Prince Rupert Organizations gain from Community Gaming Grant funding program


If you've stopped in at Chances in the last year, whether you were a winner or just a player ... you've given back to the community today. 

With the Province announcing the release of Community Gaming Grants today, funding that comes from the province's gambling venues.

Five Prince Rupert area organizations will gain from that pool of cash, sharing in close to 58,00 dollars today.

At the top of the funding list is the Prince Rupert Lions Club which will receive $30,000

The remainder will be distributed as follows:

Prince Rupert Growing Space -- $16,075
Prince Rupert Options for Social Growth Society -- $10,000
Prince Rupert and District Hospice Society -- $9,400
333 Recovery Homes Society -- $1,800

Also gaining funding on the North Coast today were:

The Social Health and Economic Development Society of Bella Coola -- $13,050 

Mount Moresby Adventure Camp Society -- $34,750

In a statement, North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice noted of the supportive work in the community each offers.

"So many organizations are doing incredible work to provide necessary and culturally relevant programs and resources to members of the North Coast and Haida Gwaii.  I am so grateful for the work they do to make our communities a more supportive place to live, as well as grateful for funding that the Community Gaming Grants provide to make sure that these organizations can keep serving our coastal communities."
