All of the Northwest is under a Fire Ban as wildfires spread across many parts of the region |
With tinder dry conditions in most of British Columbia and a weekend of lightning strikes making things inland that much worse, the Province has put in place a Northwest Fire Ban for all categories of fires.
The current focus for BC Wildfire Service personnel is the Bulkley Valley-Nechako region and the situation in the Northern part of Stikine.
The details from the Province for the Northwest ban can be reviewed here.
Reinforcing the message for North Coast residents was the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department which issued its own advisory on Monday evening, outlining the restrictions on fire pits, campfires and such.
The City of Prince Rupert followed up on the Fire Department advisory with a more detailed review of the Provincial Fire bans, including the Campfire ban which is in effect unum September 30th.
More notes on the ever changing wildfire situation in the Northwest can be reviewed from our archive page.
