City of Prince Rupert posts COVID-19 Information statement to website, social media

Following the lead of Lax Kw'alaams, which was first to post information for residents earlier today, the City of Prince Rupert has now added its own notes on their plan of response should any incidence of the virus be noted in the community.

The city provided its notes towards local efforts in an information release posted just before 5 PM.

City services remain unaffected at this time. Public health risk will be continually reassessed and City services will be adjusted accordingly should the risk level change.

The City has directed staff to enhance cleaning measures within our facilities, and we are also asking our staff as well as residents to observe good hygiene practices (such as regular hand washing), as recommended by the local health authorities.

The advisory also outlines how municipal governments are guided by the direction of local, provincial and federal health authorities when it comes to matter of public health, offering up a list of links for further information.

You can review their statement here.

The City also relayed the information through their Facebook page and mobile app program.

Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain also provided a link to the civic update.

Regional Health Authority Northern Health  is directing residents of Northern BC to the BC Centre for Disease Control for updated information on the status of the virus.
