Ice House gallery preparing for reopening at new location on December 1st

The Giant tanks of the Wheelhouse are gone, and soon the doors will open
to the new home for artisans in Prince Rupert in the Cow Bay Area

They are in the home stretch in setting up for the Grand Reopening of the Ice House Gallery, with  the artists and crafters of Prince Rupert and area set to welcome their faithful visitors and customers to their new digs on December 1st.

The Gallery left their previous location in the Atlin Terminal following the expiry of their lease in the Port Owned facility, a topic that generated a fair bit of commentary in the community in March, including some strong advocacy at City Council from Councillor Barry Cunningham who expressed some of his concerns related to the fate for the Gallery.

As time moved forward, the solution to the situation was found just steps away from the previous location.

Made possible with the former Wheelhouse Brewing Company location becoming available with their move to the city's refurbished CN station on the waterfront.

And from that relocation, the Ice House Gallery found their next home.

The first update towards their new location came in October as they began their renovations to transform the old Wheelhouse into a Gallery.

And as they note above,  the Grand Reopening comes just in time for the Holiday season and will be marked as part of Winterfest Weekend in Prince Rupert.

  1. Funny that your definition of “strong advocacy” from Barry Cunningham yielded the exact result that he voiced his opposition to…….

    1. Whatever the outcome, it's good that Barry Cunningham is a vocal supporter of the arts community. Wish more would follow his example.
