Winterfest Plans come together as Prince Rupert's Winter Festival days near

The countdown is on to the first weekend of December and the 2023 edition of Winterfest, three days of fun for everyone, with a growing list of activities to take as Prince Rupert celebrates the lead in to the holiday season.

Friday's activities kick off With the Tree Decorating Contest at the Rupert Square Shopping Centre from 10AM - 2:30, Followed by Winter Storyfest at the Prince Rupert Library from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM

Fun for the young ones comes at Good Times Games from 5 to 8 PM while the Ice House Gallery celebrates WinterFest with the Reopening of their Gallery which has relocated to the old Wheel House Location on 1st Avenue East, the Re-opening is set for 5 to 8 PM.

Saturday, December 2nd,  brings many of the most popular events for Winterfest, one in particular with a new twist for 2023.

This year the Winterfest Parade won't be passing by you on the street, but Winterfest attendees can wander the Court House area as part of the Stationary Parade, that event runs from 2 to 5 PM.


Night time turns the Court House Lawn in the Winterfest showcase with Music, snacks, treats, Hot Chocolate and Lights, lots and lots of lights as part of the Festival of Lights Tree Light up.

Events get underway a 6PM, the Lights come alive at 6:30PM



Wintefest then shifts to a Waterfront focus on Saturday night with Winterfest Sailpast set for an 8 PM start with viewing of the parade of vessels best viewed from Mariner's Park.


Once the last vessel has made its transit, the countdown is on for thirty minutes and the finale for the night, the Winterfest Fireworks show over the Harbour.


Sunday brings A Christmas Craft Fair at the Highliner Inn and the Goomsm Market at the Nisga'a Hall. A Free Skate at the Civic Centre from 5:15 to 6:30 PM puts the wrap on Winterfest 2023.

The Weekend also brings the start of the Annual Christmas Tree Sale at the McBride Street Tennis Courts, with the Rotary Forest open from noon to 6PM on Saturday and Sunday.
