MLA's Week: November 6-9, 2023



The Members of the Legislature from the Northwest had a fairly light work week in the Chamber with only one mention of the three noted in the record of participation in the Chamber.

This being the week ahead of Remembrance Day, the Provincial Government paid tribute to the veterans across the province, first on Indigenous Veterans Day and ahead of today's November 11th ceremony.

The Minister of Housing also followed up on some of his recent moves on Housing in the province, introducing legislation toward assisting municipalities as they move forward with the ambitious changes to how housing will be realized.

As for more on the recent week of work from the House, the four days unfolded as follows:

On the week, Ms Rice was not mentioned for the week in the  Legislature from November 6-9, 2023.

She was however a participant in the announcement of a new contract for the province's Emergency Health Services workers on ambulance.


The MLA was also on hand for a presentation from the Prince Rupert Port Authority, at that session Port officials update the province's MLA's on some of the plans ahead for the port's footprint in Prince Rupert.


An expansion for Naikoon Park on Haida Gwaii also provided opportunity for the MLA to note of the ongoing work for the government on conservation plans.

The North Coast MLA is also a member of the Following committees:





The MLA Is also Deputy Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Public Accounts 

Ms. Rice serves as the Government's Parliamentary Secretary for Rural health.

The North Coast MLA also addressed a range of themes and relayed  a number of government announcements through her Social Media Stream.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross  was not mentioned  in the record for the week in the Legislature from November 6-9, 2023.

Mr. Ross did however welcome BC United leader Kevin Falcon to the Northwest, the opposition leader making another visit to Terrace on Monday.

Mr. Ross serves as the BC United critic on LNG and Energy

The Skeena MLA has not been named to any of the Standing Committees for this session.

The Skeena MLA also addressed a range of themes  featured as part of the MLA's social media work.

For our readers from the Bulkley Valley area, Stikine MLA Nathan Cullen  was  mentioned once  in the record for the week in the  Legislature from November 6-9, 2023.

That by way of introductions of family members in the gallery of the Legislature on Wednesday afternoon, his comments can be reviewed here, starting at the 13:36 mark


Mr. Cullen serves as the Government's Minister of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship.

In that role, Mr. Cullen recently spoke on the province's conservation plans with Indigenous government across the province.

The MLA did have numerous appearances over the last four days related to the work of his Ministerial duties.

Mr. Cullen has also seen some additions made to his Cabinet Portfolio, with the transfer of a number Provincial Acts now part of his portfolio

The Stikine MLA also had comments on a range of themes through his Social Media stream this week
