Former Chief Councillor Harold Leighton, who has holds a long to last legacy through his time as head of the Metlakatla First Nation was honoured for his achievements last night, as Lieutenant Governor Janet Austin hosed this years recipients for the Order of British Columbia.
Announced earlier this year to a list which included actor Ryan Reynolds, Mr. Leighton was noted for his long standing service to the Metlakatla First Nation, the list of works done during his time an impressive overview of growth for the First Nation .

Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond was anong those invited to attend the Gala presentation last night at Government House in Victoria, the Mayor offering his own salute to Mr. Leighton through Social media.
Nathan Cullen the Stikine MLA and Minister for Water Land and Resource Stewardship, also had a few notes on the night's events, as well as to share the photo of Mr. Leighton with his Order of BC that we have featured atop our story.
