With next month's UBCM convention getting closer, the organizers of the annual event set for the Vancouver Convention Centre the week of September 18-22 have released the Resolutions book.
The document is one which will make for much focus for the delegates in attendance, a listing of concerns and recommendations from municipal government large and small across the Province.
As they assembled the documentation UBC officials noted of the volume of submissions that make for this years resolution workload.
Two hundred and two resolutions were received from the members by the June 30 deadline and have been included in the Resolutions Book. The UBCM Executive are putting forward one Extraordinary Resolutions (ER) and two Special Resolutions (SR) for consideration. This makes a total of 205 resolutions in 2023.
As the Prince Rupert delegation of Mayor Pond, Councillors and Senior Staffers make their plans for convention week, they seemingly won't be packing any Prince Rupert resolutions with them.
If the city submitted suggestions for the convention, the list from UBCM does not show any items of note from Prince Rupert making the cut for this years event.
There are fifteen Resolutions included for review from the Northwest or the North Central Local Government Association, including one from the District of Port Edward.
The Resolution RR 2 is related to Universal Child Care and calls for a change to the grant process that upholds UNDRIP obligations.

The Resolutions portion of Convention week will fall on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday dates of the event.
As part of convention week, Prince Rupert Council Members, Mayor Pond and senior staffers will have opportunity to speak with Provincial Cabinet members and senior staffs from their departments.
The Prince Rupert delegation one which is likely to continue to push for new financial assistance for municipal government, whether through changes to Port related legislation, through their ongoing work with the Resource Benefits Alliance collective or through other forms of advocacy towards more help for the city as it takes on its daunting challenges with infrastructure.
As we get closer towards UBCM Convention week, we will be introducing an archive page offering updates both on what Prince Rupert's officials are highlighting, as well as notes from other municipal governments and the province.
