Progress for remediation of 4th Avenue Walkway still on hold

Council will receive an update on the city's review of the conditions
of the 4th Avenue Walkway

Residents of the Fourth Avenue West area and others who once used the 4th Avenue walkway to access the downtown  area will seemingly have a wait ahead before any final determination towards remediation work for the transportation corridor is made.

A report to Council tonight from Operations Director Richard Pucci outlines the findings so far from a review of the situation for the pathway, though with a heads up that work is not imminent towards returning to public use.

That as Mr. Pucci notes the department can only operate with the budget it currently has, with any repairs the cost of which are not yet known could be at least a year away if the cost is high.

The topic generated a strong show of concern in late May from the public over the closure of the pathway, the issue generated a petition that called for the City to take action to reopen the link to the downtown area.

Among the notes is a mention of the assessment into the status of the walkway, that was taken on through funding that was re-allocated from the Odd Eidsvik Park funding.

As with the other items of the Consent Agenda (which you can review here) the topic will only come up for discussions if council members deem it worthy of a few words.

However, with it being  part of the Agenda for tonight, the public can offer comment towards the Memorandum as part of tonights Public comment period at the start of the council session.

More notes related to this evening's Council Session can be reviewed here.
