Next phase of construction for Prince Rupert's new RCMP detachment underway

There's been some significant progress seen at the corner of McBride and 1st Avenue East as the work site for the city's new RCMP detachment continues to be a busy location, with structural steel work now under and the beginning of the above the foundation work now underway.

Workers have been busy assembling the upper level for the new Detachment a crane lifting pieces of iron into place, as workers inside the foundation for the building put the pieces together above it.

The foundation and lower wall construction for the most part came to a close in mid July, allowing for the next stream of the detachment build to continue forward.

A report last week for Council of Capital and Major projects  from Director of Operations Richard Pucci, indicated that the project was currently at the 15% completion stage.

There was no timeline provided at that session as to when the city anticipates the Detachment opening its doors. Council members had few questions related to the items listed from the Report of last week, which was part of their Consent Agenda listings.
