4.5 magnitude quake recorded on Haida Gwaii early Tuesday morning


Another temblor has rattled the west coast of Haida Gwaii, striking the South Island 25 miles south of Sandspit in the early hours of Tuesday morning

That marked the epicentre at 115 miles Southwest of Prince Rupert.

The quake which was recorded at 5:15 AM  had an initial magnitude of 4.5, later downgraded to 4.4, it  was listed at a depth of 12 kilometres. 

No Tsunami Warning, Advisory or watch was issued as a result of the seismic event


There were no reports of damage from the event and no significant after shocks have been recorded.

The area has been active in recent months, with a number of similar sized seismic shifts taking place in the waters between Haida Gwaii and Northern Vancouver Island.
