Pole replacement to make for power outage for areas of Prince Rupert, Metlakatla and Lax Kw'alaams on Thursday


BC Hydro continues to work on their infrastructure around the Prince Rupert area and tomorrow there will be a significant power outage taking place as BC Hydro workers replace some transmission poles in the region.

Homeowners in the affected areas of Prince Rupert recently received a notification in their mailboxes outlining the scope of the outage which will begin at 8:00 AM and could last until 4PM, included in that message from BC Hydro was advice towards electronic devices in homes and businesses and some precautions to take towards the power outage.

Both Meltakatla and Lax Kw'alaams have outlined some background towards the outage tomorrow and the impact on their communities.



In addition to those two communities, the outage will affect residents of Digby Island, Dodge Cove and Crippen Cove.

In Prince Rupert, the majority of the impact is on the area of the city EAST of Market Place (Court House to Seal Cove)
