Cedar LNG defers final investment decision for Haisla led LNG project until Fall

One of the growing list of LNG projects of the Northwest that was showing some momentum through 2023, will be slowing down the process for a bit.

With Cedar LNG, the Haisla led partnership with Penbina Pipelines announcing last week that they were deferring a final investment decision until the fourth quarter of this year.

The August 3rd announcement noted that Cedar LNG's decision was related to  some of the design work requirements for the Floating LNG vessel model.

"Cedar LNG elected to progress a second Front End Engineering Design (FEED) process for the floating LNG vessel in late 2022 and has been waiting for that work to progress to the same stage as the original FEED.

In conjunction with detailed commercial discussions and ongoing negotiations between LNG Canada and Coastal GasLink, this has resulted in the anticipated final investment decision being revised to the fourth quarter of 2023."

In early July, Cedar LNG received its LNG Facility permit from the BC Environment Assessment process, the latest milestone for the project.

You can review more notes on the project from the BC Government Regulatory website here.
