Rainmakers inch up one spot in AAA Basketball rankings for the week

They may not have taken to the court in competition over the last seven days, but with the Provincial AAA tournament approaching in March, one of the final weeks for provincial rankings finds the Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmakers moving up one spot this week.

The Wednesday afternoon rankings release through the Vancouver Province placed the Rainmakers at number four for the week, thanks it seems mainly to the slide of the R. A. McMath squad out of Richmond which dropped from number 2 to number five.

The shift upward for the Charles Hays, returns them to above the fifth place line for the first time in four consecutive ranking periods.

The new placement sets the bar just a little bit higher for Rainmakers now, as the Northwest Zones approach next weekend in Prince Rupert.

Should the Rainmakers claim their banner in the Zones tournament, a trip to Langley will be on the travel agenda, with the Provincial AAA tournament set to take place from March 11 to 14 at the Langley Events Centre.

The 2015 Tournament website debuted on Wednesday afternoon as well, and for fans of the Rainmakers the photo gallery that kicks off the run up to the 2015 tournament will be worth a quick look over.

Two familiar faces from the Rainmaker program have claimed some photo gallery space on the tournament portal, which features photos from the Rainmakers run at last years Provincials.

And while the Senior Boy's have still to secure their spot in Langley, one squad, the Junior Girl Rainmaker squad is already making their plans for a trip to Langley.

As the Junior Girls, fresh from their weekend victory in the Northwest zones, will be bound for the Junior Girls Provincials from March 4 to 7.

The website for that Provincial tournament was also launched on Wednesday, you can follow the latest entries to it from this link.

The Senior Girls will be seeking to join the Junior Girls as Zones winners, when they head to Smithers this weekend for the Senior NorthWest Zones tournament.
