Traffic advisories in place as McBride Street work continues

A left turn is out of the question for a good portion of McBride and three
blocks of its approach streets as work continues on the water main
replacement from Sixth to Eight Avenues

Travel along McBride street is making for some navigational changes for motorists as the city of Prince Rupert continues with its extensive work on one of the city's busiest thoroughfares this summer.

The waterline replacement work currently underway has required that traffic has been re-routed along a three block section of McBride, with traffic restrictions in place from  Sixth Avenue East and West through to Eighth Avenue East and West, as barricades and traffic signs herald the change in travel patterns currently in place.

The City of Prince Rupert has provided for some background related to the project and the road restrictions currently in place, including a map to consult to get a better understanding of the scope of the work and changes in traffic patterns.

The water issues are just the latest challenge for the public works department as it tackles infrastructure concerns for the aging water system across the city Work began on the replacement in late May, it's expected that the project will continue for much of July.
