Highway incident near Kwinitsa closes Highway 16 in both directions

Highway 16 has been closed to travel in both directions
after an incident near the Kwinitsa 

Update: Drive BC advises that Highway 16 has now been reopened to traffic, with the area in question reduced to single lane alternating traffic.

(Traffic flow was restored to travel lanes in both directions by mid-afternoon Saturday)

One person was transported to hospital as a result of the incident, suffering non life threatening injuries.

The scene is now being investigated by the Terrace RCMP Traffic Service's Office, assisted by the RCMP detachment out of Prince Rupert.

Highway travel between Prince Rupert and Terrace has come to a stop along the Skeena after a vehicle incident was reported just before 11 AM on Saturday.



Drive BC advises, that with no detour available, Highway 16 has been closed to traffic in both directions.




There is no traffic on the Highway east of Kasiks or
to the west from Rainbow Summit
after Drive BC closed the highway owing to a
vehicle incident near Kwinitsa


The Drive BC Highway camera at the Kwinitsa location
is currently not in operation.

No details have been released by Drive BC, or the RCMP related to the incident which is located just east of the Kwinitsa highway camera, with Drive BC advising that their next update will come at 1 PM.
