The City of Prince Rupert has once again helped the neighbours to the north celebrate their Independence Day, with Mayor Lee Brain joining in on the Fourth of July celebrations today in Ketchikan.

The Mayor made note of his journey through his Facebook page on Wednesday, hailing the trip as a chance to build on relationships and making note of the many exchanges that have taken place in the past between the two communities.

The Mayor has become a frequent visitor to the city and other points in Alaska over the last four years, with travels north on a number of occasions for meetings of the South East Alaska conference.

Mr. Brain was joined in the annual Fourth of July parade by members of the Prince Rupert Station 64 of the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue, the Prince Rupert group will be working with US Coast Guard Auxiliary in a number of marine exercises during their stay.

You can get a taste of some of the activities from Ketchikan through the Live in Kethcikan Facebook page, which offers up a glimpse of some of the things to do not only on the Fourth of July, but through out the year for those that make the journey North.
