Pembina takes membership in Prince Rupert Port Authority Environmental Stewardship Committee

Update: Later in the day Monday, Pembina announced that they had "triggered a milestone" in their agreement with the City of Prince Rupert related to the their terminal project, the details can be reviewed here.

Another sign of progress for Pembina, the proponent of an LPG terminal for the Watson Intermodal Trade and Logistics Park, with the Alberta company taking on participation in a Port of Prince Rupert led committee on Environmental Stewardship.

Last month Pembina outlined its participation of the Environmental Stewardship Committee, which provides for awareness, information and involvement in environmental matters related to the operations of the Port of Prince Rupert..

The Port's commitment to Environmental Stewardship includes four elements: Pollution Prevention, Preservation of Environmental Integrity, Efficient Use of Resources, Continuous Improvement.

Pembina has also provided some details on its transportation plan to ship LPG from Watson Island to global markets, providing a look at the route that the LPG vessels will take into the Watson terminal location.

The transit will see  a dual tug escort through Porpoise Channel, passing through the harbour at Port Edward, the vessels only making their journey through daylight hours and at slack tide. As well, transits will not take place when sustained winds are in excess of 25 knots.

You can find out more about the Pembina plans in Prince Rupert from their storefront office located in the Capital Mall on Third Avenue West, the office is open from 9AM-3PM from Wednesday to Friday, Noon until 4PM on Saturdays.

Earlier this month Prince Rupert City Council members were in Alberta to learn more about Pembina's operations and plans for shipment to the North Coast.
