Riverboat Days makes for Ten Days of Celebrations in Terrace

If you're looking for someone in Prince Rupert on Saturday, you might have your best success in finding them by heading to Terrace ...

Today marks the start of the ten day festival of Riverboat Days featuring a jam packed schedule of events for those heading down Highway 16, in quest of some northwest fun.

Tomorrow set to be the day of main attractions for the festival, led off by the River Boat Days parade starting at 11 AM  working its way along Lakelse Avenue, the always popular parade features participants from Terrace and many of the communities of the Northwest including Prince Rupert.

The theme this year is “Celebrating the Diverse Culture in Terrace and the Surrounding Communities.”, sponsored by the Terrace Legion, the parade brings out the crowds, with thousands lining the route as the floats and participants pass by.

If you can't make it to Terrace, you can check out the parade through the CityWest Community Channel or CFTK TV, with CityWest providing a rebroadcast of the parade on Sunday.

The Concert in the Park sessions also have proven to be a popular event and this year in addition to a growing line up of regional performers, the day of music in George Little Park will come to an end with headliners Platinum Blonde.

Saturday Night comes to an end with Fireworks Display over the North end of the Ferry Island Campground area, the Riverboat Days organizers offer up some helpful viewing advice here for those that stay late into the night for Saturday events.

Sports make for a good portion of the weekend events with Slow Pitch, Volleyball, Road Hockey and Soccer among the sports events on the schedule, with a number of North Coast participants making the trip to take part.

Much of the activity for Saturday is set for the vicinity of George Little Park and areas of the downtown, though many of the events and activities for the remainder of the ten days are spread out at many venues across the city.
