Lester Centre suspends production of Spring presentation of DISASTER!: The Musical

With provincial restrictions now in place for public gatherings and social distancing our new mantra in the country related to the COVID-19 outbreak, the production of Disaster! The Musical will be put on hiatus, with word of the suspension of rehearsals and the planned presentation of April 2-4 at the Lester Centre.

The suspension of the production, which was in its final weeks of rehearsal, came by way of a statement from Lester Centre General Manager Michael Gurney first posted to the Lester Centre of the Arts media stream yesterday.

Rehearsals have ceased immediately and the performances of April 2, 3 and 4 will not proceed. Once circumstances improve, a future date will be identified for the resumption of rehearsals and new performance dates.

If any member of the public has purchased tickets or season passes, they will be valid for the rescheduled performance. If necessary, refunds may be obtained from the Lester Centre box office on weekday afternoons after 1 p.m.

You can find more on the suspended production and updates as they come along from the Lester Centre of the Arts Facebook page.

The much anticipated local musical had been in the planning stages since the summer of last year, it joins many other events, sports and gatherings that have been suspended or cancelled in the last week.

You can review a list of those cancellations and suspensions that we are aware of, along with advisories from local officials from our archive page here.
