Sitting atop the CIHL standings makes the Prince Rupert Rampage the team to beat as November ramps up for the CIHL Schedule and this weekend, there are two teams in the Cariboo looking to serve up the first setback for the visitors from the North Coast.
The 952 kilometres between Prince Rupert and Williams Lake is the longest stretch for two teams that have had much such success in the Regular Season, with the Rampage set for a Saturday night showdown in the Stampede City.
The hosts looking to improve on their own record and knock the Rhinos down a slot in the CIHL standings by the end of the weekend.
The Rampage follow it up with a trek back to the Northwest, with a Sunday stopover in Quesnel for game two of the road trip of road trips for the season.
The Saturday night game should bring in a good crowd for the hometown Stamps.
In addition to the high octane offensive squad from Prince Rupert in town, the Williams Lake team is hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss on the night.
So at least the Rampage have a heads up on the night's off ice activities while also keeping a heads up for any incoming bears should the crowd be motivated to launch before toss time.
Sunday's game in Quesnel has the Rhinos making for the back end of a weekend series for the Kangaroos who will have faced off against Terrace the night before.
With their 4-0 record so far in 2023-24, the Rampage are already a well told story across the CIHL, a scoring punch that has so far seen 17 goals scored in the offensive end, while defensively they have been stingy with the second best Goals Against in the league at 10.
And should things take a turn to the nasty, they are not shy to take up the challenge, with 171 penalty minutes so far this season, a good portion of that total coming from last weeks tilt with Nechako which leads the league in penalty calls at 214 minutes.
We're not sharing nay intel with the Cariboo teams by noting that the Rhinos are doing well in the Scoring race, with Judd Repole tied for first overall after four games with 11 points, while defensman Tyler Ostrom is not too far off that pace at 8 points through to the end of October.
As for their competition on the weekend, the Rampage will be focused on the Stamps top scorer Brendan Pigeon who has 4 goals and six assists on four games played.
Quesnel has had some struggles on offence in the early going, though Levon Johnson and Alessio Tomasseti seem to have had some good chemistry to this point.
