RCMP, Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue respond to McBride Street crash, bridge area closed to traffic

An accident on the span crossing over Hays Creek at the Civic Centre has closed a portion of McBride Street, with RCMP redirecting traffic through the Civic Centre parking lot as Fire and Emergency personnel work the scene.

The incident which has snarled morning traffic on the main thoroughfare into the city, involved at least two vehicles in the middle of the bridge and appears to have taken place prior to 7:30 AM.

Conditions were wet in the city at the time, with some reduced visibility.

The Bridge across Hays Creek at the Civic Centre was the scene of
a major response by Emergency personnel after an incident involving

There has been no information released as of yet by the Prince Rupert RCMP as to whether any injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Emergency responders were still on the scene after 8AM and the investigation into the vehicle incident will continue into the morning.

Using alternate roads around the situation would be your best option as a traveller and reduce the amount of traffic in the area as the investigation continues.
