Election time at Northern Savings with four Board of Director's positions to be filled by ballot

It's campaign time for candidates for the Northern Savings Board of Directors, with members of the Prince Rupert based financial institution receiving ballots and election information through the mail in recent days.

The information package that members will receive includes some background on the candidates and what they have to offer, the ballot itself, an postage paid envelope to forward your selections to the Prince Rupert head office.

Six candidates are seeking the four Board positions that are available, included on the list and seeking the votes of the membership are:

Sandra (Sam) Blair (Terrace)
Sylvain Daugert (Masset)
Bret Johnston (Masset)
Joseph Lavoie (Masset resides in Terrace)
Michael Pucci (Prince Rupert)
Jeffrey Stromdhal (Prince Rupert)

You can learn more about the candidates and the election process here.

The deadline for voting is 5 PM on Friday, March 8th.

In Branch voting is to take place on March 13, 14 and 15, if you did not submit a mail in ballot

To be eligible to vote, members must have been in good standing as of December 23rd of 2018.

You must be eighteen years of age to cast a ballot along with holding equity shares in the Northern Savings Credit Union membership.

Corporations, partnerships or society members must authorize a person to vote on their behalf.

The 2019 election is taking place under revised rules adopted in 2017.

The change has resulted in four of the five seats on the Board to be held by Directors at Large, which means that the positions will now be filled by those members in good standing regardless of where their home branch of Northern Savings may be located.

The fifth seat is one designated for the Queen Charlotte area and that was filled by acclamation with with Trent Moraes to return for a three year term.

As part of the mail out to members, Northern Savings provided an information sheet related to their corporate governance structure, which you can review below:
