Photography aficionados can find Shutter Shack in its new location as the long time store moves to Third West under its new ownership of Lonnie and Bruce Wishart |
A familiar Prince Rupert Brand name, some new owners and a familiar face as well, all marked the move of Shutter Shack from 1st Avenue West to its new location on Third Avenue West.
As the long established photography supply store made for the latest of businesses to set up shop in the block between 200 and 400 on the city's long established shopping thoroughfare.
The popular fixture of Prince Rupert's Commercial sector was recently purchased by Lonnie and Bruce Wishart with the couple making the move to their new digs in January.
Through the month they took to the task of shifting the stock, moving equipment and setting up the new location in the old Farwest Sports building on Third Avenue East.
They opened the store up for business in late January and along with the cameras and equipment making the trek two blocks over was former Shutter shack owner John Rogers who is featured in some entertaining videos to be found on their Facebook page.
In addition to the familiar service and items for sale in the new location, the Wishart's have introduced a Camera Museum, that provides a glimpse into some of the changes that the world of photography have seen over the decades.
If you have some old photography gear of your own, they gladly take donations to add to the collection that they have built up over the years and now have put on display.
You can explore some more from their Facebook page here, but for the full tour of what's familiar and what's new, you can drop into 221 Third Avenue West for a chance to catch up.
