One final tune up before Zones for Charles Hays Senior Boys; Juniors make ready for provincials



While the City's show case event of the final days of the 60th All Native Basketball Tournament heads towards Championship Saturday, the Russell Gamble Gymnasium isn't the only venue for some high energy basketball this weekend.

Tonight and tomorrow afternoon, the Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmakers and Caledonia Kermodes will put the High School brand of ball on display, with both set for a two game series at the Charles Hays Gym.

The weekend of basketball with Cal offers the Rainmakers one more high energy workout before the Northwest Zones take place next week, with the Charles Hays team hosting the regional finale.

As they prepare to take to the court, the Rainmakers will be pleased to learn that their status as top team in AA Basketball has been secured, with today's release finding the Senior Boys in the familiar Number One spot that they have held all season.



Tonight's game has a 6:30 PM tip off, while the two teams are back on the court again tomorrow for the wrap up match at at 2PM.

For Kevin Sawka's Junior Boys, the weekend is one final run through of practices before they head south for the Big Dance of the British Columbia High School Junior Provincials, set for the Langley Events Centre next week.

The Junior Boys moved on to the provincial championship last weekend as they claimed the Northwest Zones banner at the regional tourney in Smithers.

The Junior Rainmakers topped the Smithers Gryphons 74-42 in the tournament finale to once again claim a spot at the Langley tournament.

For Coach Sawka and the Junior Boys they will be watching the weather with some interest as they prepare for their journey south next week, last year they had to sit out the Provincials after some extreme weather laid waste to the best of their travel plans.

The Junior Rainmakers head into tournament time hold fast to their placement in the Top Ten with the last rankings before next weeks tournament finding the Rainmakers at the number 10 Spot in the Province.



The Junior Boys Provincials take place from February 23 to 26 at the Langley Events Centre.
