Four days of some high energy basketball have come to an end for the Charles Hays Rainmakers Junior boys team, with the Rainmakers putting a wrap on their tournament experience with hard fought battle with Heritage Woods on Tuesday.
The fifth and final game of the event found the Rainmakers coming up just a little bit short as the clock ran out, as the Heritage Woods squad topped the Makers 44 to 41, leaving the Charles Hays Squad with a 3-2 record over the course of the four days in Langley.
The first game of the tournament of Saturday proved to be the costliest of the five, with a 63 to 31 loss to J L Jackson knocking the Rainmakers over to the B side of the event and to the lower tier of the 32 teams from across BC that were in Langley for the weekend.
Coach Kevin Sawka's team shook off the disappointment of that opening loss well though, running through the remainder of the tournament with some strong results with wins over St. Thomas Aquinas, Sa-Hail and Magee before their final match up with Heritage Woods.
The Tournament Finale saw the Burnaby South Rebels claim this years Provincial banner with 66 to 37 victory over R. A. McMath.
