The first of two opportunities for members of the Metlakatla First nation to offer their thoughts on issues related to First Nation citizenship took place today at the Metlakatkla Administration Office, with participants taking part in a collaborative process with the government to examine the broader issues of Indian registration.
The two days will build on a similar consultation of seven years from 2011-2012, sessions which made for the exploratory process on Indian Registration, Band Membership and Citizenship.
The second session, for those who could not make it to the session today is scheduled for tomorrow in Prince Rupert at the Highliner Plaza Hotel from 9 AM to 3 PM.
The meetings are for registered Metlakatla members and non registered descendants of Metlakatla.
You can find out more information and register for the Tuesday session by contacting Erika Leighton at 250-628-3234 or by email at eleighton@metlakatla.ca
