Port Edward looks towards community garden planning

The District of Port Edward is looking ahead to the North Coast Growing season working out some planning towards the creation of a Community Garden for the community this year.

At their January District meeting, municipal officials outlined the path ahead to bring the proposed garden to the starting line, noting that they need a group in the community to be set up to develop a committee to work together in the development of the community garden concept.

For its part, the District has given approval to make an area close to the old school on Spruce Street available for use as the location for the community garden should it go ahead.

Prince Rupert residents launched their own community garden project on the east side in August of 2018, with volunteers coming together to develop the project in the Overlook area of the city.
