Rainmakers claim two more victories in final tune up before Provincials

Prince Rupert was Hoops City over the weekend, with high energy basketball to be found at two locations, the Russell Gamble Gymnasium at the Civic Centre and the Charles Hays Gymnasium on Prince Rupert Boulevard.

At the latter, the Charles Hays Senior Boys were hosting the Caledonia Kermodes who were in town on Friday and Saturday for a pair of games to put in one last weekend of competition before its tournament time in Langley.

Friday night the Makers topped the Kermodes 79-50, the Saturday showdown saw the Kermodes put a strong push on the Charles Hays squad, though the Makers held off the Caledonia charge to take the final of the two games 74-60.

For Charles Hays all attention now moves on towards Provincials, in March, as the Rainmakers won't have to compete in Northwest Zones competition this year.

Coaches Mel and Ryan Bishop will be working some pretty charged practice sessions over the next two weeks  in order to keep the Makers' sharp for their return to the provincial stage in the Lower mainland.

The Langley event which will see the Charles Hays boys take on some of the top AA teams in the province will take place from March 6 to 9.
