The Prince Rupert Labour Council has followed up on a promise to spark some discussion on housing issues in the community, announcing plans to host a Town Hall Forum on Affordable Housing later this month.
The session to be hosted through the Zoom online forum will take place on Saturday, April 17th from 2 to 4 PM, offering a chance for residents of the region to share their thoughts on the range of issues that are topical on housing in the community.
Tom Kertes, the President of the Prince Rupert Labour Council, outlines the focus for the two hour session and what the Labour Council is hoping to achieve through it.
"Housing affects everyone in the community and we are facing a crisis in our community. People need housing security. That requires good paying jobs, social supports for those who need it, affordable housing, and a strong and caring economy that works for everyone. These forums are a first step to getting the community united on finding workable solutions to the housing crisis we're facing. By working together, through listening to each other, we can solve this and all the other challenges we face."
