The last week has seen a mix of rain, wind, snow and sleet much of it making for a mess of the roads for short periods of time and through social media we gain a glimpse into just how the current flow of the weather systems is causing some troubles for travellers.

A post on the Facebook page Highway 16 Road Conditions, makes note of a situation  on Thursday evening along Highway 16, ten kilometres east of Port Edward.

A passerby Shawn Yeung shares the story of arriving on the scene of a car that went off the road, administering first aid and providing comfort until emergency responders and EMT's arrived on the scene.

Fortunately, it appears that there were no major injuries suffered by the motorist and passenger from the incident, with Port Edward Fire/Rescue the first to attend the scene upon notification of the situation.

The incident does however, indicate that there is still much work to be done to ensure for full cellphone connectivity along the highway, with part of the narrative noting of the difficulties in accessing a cell phone signal in that area so as to notify the emergency responders.

The full story and your opportunity to pass on thanks for assistance offered can be reviewed here.
