COVID continued to dominate the news both locally and provincially, with Prince Rupert marking a new milestone in its work of brining down the curve of infection, that as the BC CDC data for this week showed that one month after our community vaccination clinic the case count was down significantly.
While the North Coast finds relief from the impact of COVID the story is very different in other parts of BC, leading the provincial government to introduce new travel measures.
A pair of civic themes made for a large audience this week as our stories on parking and the use of the Cow Bay Marina both were well received.
And this week brought a slight delay to the return of air travel out of the Digby Island airport, with YPR announcing that Air Canada had revised their return date to June 23rd.
However, it was COVID that took the bulk of the attention and the success of the vaccination clinic in Prince Rupert.
One month following vaccination clinic shows a tide has turned for Prince Rupert's COVID count, while Terrace numbers back on the rise -- The success of the community vaccination clinic of March can be tracked through the data releases from the BC CDC, with the most recent report from April 21 showing an impressive turnaround from our COVID numbers of last month, The clinic was one celebrated by both the Health Minister and Doctor Bonnie Henry. However, while the news was positive at mid week, it was tempered somewhat by an announcement from Northern Health on Friday of the passing of another resident from Acropolis Manor, the city's long term care facility (posted April 21, 2021)

Air Canada's return plans for Prince Rupert take a short step backward; with new resumption of service date set for June 23 -- Despite some significant financial help from the Federal Government, Air Canada's plans to resume service to the North Coast will be delayed by five days. Cow Bay Marina: Any Boat in the midst of a COVID storm -- With itinerant yacht traffic all but evaporated owing to COVID, some larger commercial vessels are claiming some space at the city owned Cow Bay Marina (posted April 20, 2021)
