Harbour watchers in the Port Edward area have no doubt taken note of a new neighbour slipping into town in the last few hours, with a bulk liquid propane carrier the Pertusola moving into position at the Pembina Liquid Propane Terminal dock at Watson Island.

The Italian flagged ships arrival, which is listed on the Prince Rupert Port Authority arrivals and departures page marks the first vessel call for the Pembina facility an indication that its operational status is now in motion.

You can learn more about the marine transporter from the home page of the Italian shipping company Carboflotta.

There's no mention of the much anticipated arrival on the Pembina website to this point, however the City of Prince Rupert has shared word of the arrival of the Italian visitor.

The Prince Rupert Economic Development Office recently celebrated the commissioning phase of the terminal with a Social Media post through their Facebook page.

The Port's information page notes that it is scheduled to depart Prince Rupert by April 16th, by which time we suspect we will learn more about the operations of the newest export terminal on the North Coast as Pembina launches its gateway to the world from its Watson Island terminal footprint.

More notes on the Pembina facility can be reviewed from our archive page here.
