Northern Health continues to monitor twin COVID-19 outbreaks in Prince Rupert health facilities, as well as notes on a new school exposure

There's little change in the status of two health care facilities in Prince Rupert as the week comes to an end, with Northern Health Updating their notes on two COVID outbreaks in the city,

In an announcement released this afternoon, Northern Health officials note that the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital outbreak remains at three lab confirmed cases among patients along with the addition of one staff member, all associated to the outbreak declared on March 28th.

At Acropolis Manor, the number of residents listed as having contracted COVID now is listed at five, an increase of three from the original two cases reported last week.

Enhanced measures are in place at both facilities, with monitoring and testing continuing in order to identify any additional cases.

As for any timeline towards declaring the outbreak over, Northern Health notes that officials will only declare either of the outbreaks over when they are confident that chains of transmission have been stopped.

More on the update can be found here.

In addition to the two outbreaks at the health care facilities, Northern Health and the BC CDC have also called attention to another school exposure in the community noting of an exposure at Prince Rupert Middle School as of March 29th.
