Maclean's pegs Prince Rupert at 131st place in annual survey of Canada's Best Communities

A bit of attention for Prince Rupert as Maclean's charts Canada's
Best Communities for 2021

415 communities make the Maclean's list of Best Communities for 2021, a pretty good volume of them found in British Columbia, with the usual suspects claiming the primo spots as might be expected.

But outside of the more traditional destinations for relocation or tourists visits, we find Prince Rupert not quite in the top 100 for the year and yes down a fair bit from just a few years ago.

Still however, making for a respectable finish at 131st place from the full cross Canada review

Cost of living, mainly through housing means that BC's entry to the list is a bit delayed, coming at Number 18 with Langford in the Greater Victoria region making for our first entry, followed by a number of other nearby communities, with the rest of the province breaking onto the list by the mid thirties.

For Prince Rupert, the sense of Community and local amenities contributed to the city's placement on the list of 415

The 2021 rankings from Macleans' puts
Prince Rupert at 131st place

Terrace is the only other Northwest Community to be ranked, claiming the 188th spot

Terrace is a little further down the 2021 rankings this
year marked at 188th spot

Further down the Highway 16 corridor, Prince George is  listed at 138

How Macleans came to its findings is explained here.

The full rankings for all 415 communities can be examined here

The start point for the full review of the Maclean's 2021 findings can be found here , you can also make use of their filter process to watch the community rise and fall depending on the elements you have selected.

We seem to do best in the areas of Affordability and Taxes, as well as the afore mentioned Community and Amenities categories.

Less so, in areas of weather, crime, health and population growth.

Prince Rupert's placement in the 100-150 area, is a bit of a drop however from the findings from Maclean's back in 2019, a point in time when we were marked at Number 46.

Two years ago a similar survey had Prince Rupert
aside of the Top city communities in Canada

Prince Rupert's mention in the national magazine, comes as the ongoing efforts towards recruiting new residents continues.

That through the Make Prince Rupert Home campaign, you can check in on how that is going from their Facebook page and website.
