West Side traffic stop leads to drug seizure, outstanding warrant arrest


The Prince Rupert detachment of the RCMP are outlining the details into a seizure of what they call a significant quantity of drugs and, weapons and Canadian currency, that following a traffic stop on Wednesday April 21st.

A Prince Rupert officer on day patrol pulled over a vehicle in the 400 block of 7th Avenue West at approximately 2:30 PM on the 21st, stopping a 32 year old male who as was discovered was prohibited from driving.

From the traffic stop police then attended to a nearby RV trailer where a 24 year old female was arrested on outstanding warrants, members of the detachment then obtained a search warrant for the vehicle and trailer.

Following further investigation, police seized a significant quantity of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, numerous pills, and a large sum of Canadian currency. Several edged weapons were also located.

The investigation is ongoing and Prince Rupert RCMP will be forwarding the file to Crown Counsel for review.
