The first of the two City council sessions for June takes place this evening, the night one which will bring a number of Reports forward to Council, the majority related to Variance requests or Zoning Amendments.
With a Public Hearing taking place previous to the Council Session related to the plans for a Muti family structure on 9th West adjacent to the Middle school, Council will also be asked to provide third reading towards the required Zoning Amendment bylaw.
Council members also will receive an update on Major Projects under development as well as a report on the possible courses of action towards the 4th Avenue pathway.
Some notes on the Liquor Licence Amendment for Port City Spirits return tonight, with a large volume of letters of support to be included as part of the record for the file.
The Port City spirits themes and perhaps some of the others on the Agenda will be available for comment from the public if they wish at the start of the Regular Council Session in the comment period.
Council members also will have a chance for the first look at the 2023 Annual Report.
The Regular Session
Tonight's Regular Council session starts at 7 PM and can be viewed by way of the Live Feed from the City Website, or on Cable Television from CityWest Cable channel 10/310.
The session is normally posted to the City's YouTube archive within 24 hours of the session concluding.

2023 Zoning Amendment Bylaw Number 3506, 2023 -- Council will give first and second reading to the City of Prince Rupert Zoning Amendment Bylaw 3506, to permit child care facilities in all public zones (see pages 218-220 of Agenda)
2023 Zoning Amendment Bylaw Number 3507, 2023 -- Council will give third reading to the City of Prince Rupert Zoning Amendment Bylaw 3507, related to development of a multifamily story building with 40 units in the 9th Avenue West area of town. With Council to proceed to a Public Hearing (see page 221 of Agenda)
Business Arising
Council Round Table and Public Question Period -- Council members will have opportunity to raise items of interest or concern for consideration.
Adjournment -- The Mayor will bring the session to a close with a call to adjourn, with Council then to move into a Close Session under the Community Charter sections:
90.1 (c) labour relations or other employee relations
90.1 (e) - the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements if the council considers the disclosures could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality.
