Terrace's REM Lee Hospital Foundation launches fundraising to bring Tier 3 NICU to new Mills Memorial hospital



The next project for Terrace's REM Lee Hospital Foundation has the newborn and their families as the focus. With the Foundation announcing the launch of a 14.5 Million dollar fundraising project to include a NeoNatal Intensive Care Unit and Special Care Nursery to the new Mills Memorial Hospital replacement project currently under construction in the Skeena Valley City.


The Fundraiser called Closer to Home was announced over the weekend at a community fundraising walk at Kitsumkalum which brought out a strong volume or are residents to lend their support.

The event which was a huge success for the Foundation has set the pace for donations with the first 2 million dollars towards the 14.5 million dollar goal realized from the Saturday event.

The Foundation website outlines how there is no Tier 3 hospital the Northwest Region, with mothers and infants in need of emergent care having to be medevaced to either Prince George or Vancouver.

Their notes on the fundraising project outlines how having care closer to home means mothers and babies will be surrounded by the people they need and their families less burdened by the financial and emotional costs of travel and long-term stays in unfamiliar settings!
