Northern Savings Celebrates Credit Union Day with donation program for local organizations

It's Credit Union and Member Appreciation Day at Northern Savings


Ten community groups across the Northwest are going to benefit from the generosity of customers of Northern Savings Credit Union, with the Prince Rupert based financial organization celebrating Credit Union Day today with a funding announcement.

As part of the Credit union program, members of the financial institution receive patronage refunds, with an option to direct that money to a number of local not for profit groups, this year 31 percent of patronage that was claimed  by members was paid forward to those groups.

The list of ten groups that will receive donations of close to 17,000 dollars include:

Prince Rupert

Prince Rupert Special Events Society
Prince Rupert Wildlife Shelter


Haida Gwaii

Haida Gwaii Communities Society
Masset SPCA
Queen Charlotte SCPCA

Terrace

R.E.M Theatre Alive Society
Terrace Hospice Society

As well, the Northern Animal Rescue Alliance, Food for All Food Bank and Success by Six program will also receive funding through the program.

Credit Union Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the co-operative principles at the heart of Northern Savings delivery of services and gives the financial institution a change to connect with the community and to thank their customers for their loyalty over the years.

As part of the Day today Northern Savings branches will be hosting a Member Appreciation Day, with a BBQ, snacks and prizes today.
