Wind Warning issued for Haida Gwaii, with rain and wind in forecast for Prince Rupert/North Coast

Coming Our Way, a significant marine system is working its way towards
Haida Gwaii and the North Coast over the remainder of the week

The first fall weather warning of the year was issued earlier this morning by Environment Canada, which posted a Wind Warning for Haida Gwaii just after 4:30 AM, calling for strong winds of 80 to 100 km/h for the Island.

As of 9AM, the weather alerts had not been extended as far as the North Coast, though the extended forecast for the Prince Rupert area and points east suggest that the rest of the week towards the weekend will be a wet one.

The moist and gusty weather system originates from the Southwest pacific and along with the precipitation, winds will increase through the day today and overnight into Wednesday, with the forecast calling for winds at times up to 80 km/h in exposed coastal areas.

Marine Warnings have been issued for all waters of Haida Gwaii/North Coast

The oncoming weather system has already delivered a range of Marine Weather Warnings to be put in place for all approaches to Haida Gwaii and the North Coast.

As the system approaches the North Coast, we will update our notes with any additional information provided by Environment Canada.
