Parking issues at both ends of Rushbrook trail made for a conversation topic at Tuesday's City Council session |
Councillor Barry Cunningham made the case for a break for city residents this fall and winter when it comes to access to the recently opened Rushbrook Trail.
Speaking at Tuesday's City Council session Mr. Cunningham relayed some concerns he has related to the Seal Cove end of the trail, with trail users wandering through an active industrial area near the ship yard and fish plant there, as well as parking their cars in the wrong location.
The parking issues at both the ends of the trail, made for his focus something that the Council member would like to see addressed in the Spring with an information campaign for trail users, to direct then to less intrusive parking locations.
Opening up parking spots at Rushbrook Floats for trail users over the winter was a suggestion from Councillor Cunningham on Tuesday night |
"What I'd like to see, and I thought we had sort of settled this a couple of years ago, that in the winter months and we can determine that October 31st to April or sometime ... that we give people free parking at Rushbrook so that they can go down there, enjoy that trail and get some exercise in the winter. We should be encouraging people to use it and then set a pattern so when we have time to put signage up at the other end (Seal Cove)" -- Councillor Cunningham at Council Tuesday evening
