Prince Rupert Fire Rescue make quick work of afternoon fire on Sixth Avenue East

Units from Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue were called to the city's east side on Wednesday afternoon responding shortly after 3PM to a basement fire in the 1400 block of Sixth, their work taking less than an hour to bring the situation under control.

No injuries have been reported from the fire scene to this point, with some Fire officials still on the scene towards 5PM to investigate the scene further.

Some posts to social media sites in the city provided a few photos of the fire crews at the scene, along with the road closure that had been put in place during the incident.

As the fire crews attended to the scene, Prince Rupert RCMP were redirecting traffic heading to and from the Seal Cove area, sending motorists to travel down Seventh East, with members posted at Plaza and Overlook to keep the roadway closed through the fire scene.
